The Document Production Issue, August 2002

Providing useful information for busy Litigation Professionals...

FACT: 90% of your client's data exists electronically. How are you going to handle your next document production?

With the average white collar worker sending/receiving over 30 emails per day, your client could easily have hundreds of thousands of emails to review prior to production...so could the other side! What's an attorney to do? Add more staff? Or work more efficiently...

CAUTION! Before producing PST files read this...

PST files are "Personal File Folder" files created by Microsoft Outlook. Beware! These files can contain far more than archived emails.

The unsuspecting attorney may be producing his client's contact database, calendar, to-do lists and much more!

Here's a free program that will give you a report of all those files sorted however you want. Directory Lister lets you list all the files you have in selected directories on your hard disk, cd-rom, or floppy. It is a freeware program. That's right...it's free!

Meta Data...the data behind the data

Most electronic files have, as part of their profile, a variety of data. This data can help authenticate an electronic file, and give you clues that the printed version of the document conceal.

WARNING: Producing electronic files without understanding meta data and its implications could be embarrassing at best.
