Before you take any unnecessary steps contact us today for a free consultation on how our Digital Discovery Process will save you time and money.

An attorney asks...

Q. "I've received a CD with hundreds and hundreds of Adobe PDF documents on it. I'm able to search for key words in these PDFs one file at a time. I don't want to open and search these files one-at-a-time. Is there a way for me to search across ALL the PDFs at the same time. I don't have much time...HELP!...what can I do?"

A. Good news - your PDFs have text incorporated into them. There is a quick and easy solution to your problem. "Catalog" is an Adobe Acrobat feature which allows one to index multiple PDFs and search ONCE across ALL the PDFs in your population to find the key words. In traditional PDF fashion, all the hits are highlighted, too!

Recent Electronic Discovery Decisions...

...IF IN DOUBT, DELETE IT! This philosophy resulted from the precept that a proactive policy can streamline discovery, and perhaps save a company's reputation! As we've learned from the debacles at Enron, Arthur Andersen and Merrill Lynch (to name a few), this is not a wise protocol.

In Residential Funding Corp. v. DeGeorge Fin. Corp. 306 F.3d 99, the 2d U.S. Circuit Court sounded a grim warning for companies lacking a sound electronic document retention policy: if you wind up in court and can't produce the goods, you may be liable!
